PIANO

Piano Lessons in Clementi

Classical piano for children and adults, taught in the European conservatory tradition.

WHY CEPHAS

A Pianist’s Training, Passed On

Piano is where Cephas began. Our teaching descends from the Medan Music School, founded in 1948, and is led today by a concert-trained pianist.

  • Led by Dr. Andjelita Chendra, PhD in Piano Performance and Music Pedagogy, Royal Conservatory of Brussels
  • Two decades of performing and teaching in Europe
  • Experienced teachers in continual professional training
  • A strong record at the Annual Concert and in competitions such as Music Singapore

THE LESSONS

What Piano Lessons Cover

Every plan is shaped around your child’s age, level and goals, or your own. Lessons build:

  • Technique and posture: a healthy hand position, tone and control from the first lesson
  • Reading and sight-reading: fluent, confident reading of new music
  • Scales, arpeggios and aural: the foundations every exam and every pianist relies on
  • Repertoire: Baroque, Classical, Romantic and contemporary pieces, plus music students simply love to play
  • Musicianship: phrasing, style and expression, not just the right notes

EXAMS

Graded Piano Exams

For students who want a clear path, we prepare candidates for:

  • ABRSM practical, theory and aural
  • Trinity College London (TCL) graded exams
  • London College of Music (LCM) exams on request

Exams are a milestone, not the goal. Students are prepared to play well, and the certificates follow.

ADVANCED STUDY

Higher Grades and Diplomas

Higher-grade students and diploma candidates study under the personal tutelage of Dr. Andjelita Chendra, bringing the training of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels to every lesson.

  • Grades 6 to 8: practical, theory and aural, with the musical maturity the higher grades demand
  • Performance diplomas: ABRSM (DipABRSM, LRSM) and Trinity College London (ATCL, LTCL)
  • Interpretation and style: phrasing, voicing and pedalling at concert level
  • Recital preparation: building and performing a full programme with confidence
  • Competitions: preparation for local and international stages
