Over the past 6 years, Dr Chendra has not only taught me how to play violin with proper technique, but also to love the instrument and music of all genres. She is deeply passionate, full of energy, and she truly cares about her students within and outside of class. She ensures her students are able to sight-read, practice techniques, learn at their own pace, and play the type of music that they love. She also ensures that her students are given ample opportunities to perform, by setting up year-end performances, pushing them to go for competitions and exams and facilitating extra practice sessions/purchasing of new violin and bow. Violin is a notoriously challenging instrument, but with Dr Chendra’s passion, sharp ear for pitch and her ability to refine fine techniques, I have been motivated to continue learning and performing. My favourite parts of the lessons were when she provided piano accompaniments, with musical interpretations, to hear and feel how beautiful the piece is meant to be. This is one of the ways Dr Chendra goes the extra mile for her students, as not all teachers provide accompaniment during lessons. Overall, I strongly recommend Cephas Music School 🙂
